وخانَهُand betrayed him الفاجرُthe wicked man ابنُson of العلقميal-ʿAlqamī إلىuntil
وخانَهُ الفاجرُ ابنُ العلقمي إلى
أنْthat بدلَchanged الدولةَthe state الغراءَthe glorious تبديلاa thorough change
أنْ بدلَ الدولةَ الغراءَ تبديلا
And the wicked Ibn al-ʿAlqamī betrayed him, until
The treacherous one, son of Al-Alqami, betrayed him
he utterly changed the glorious state.
Until he totally changed the excellent state
وكانَand happened ماwhat كانَhappened مماof what لستُI am not أذكرهُmentioning it
وكانَ ما كانَ مما لستُ أذكرهُ
ليقضيso that He might accomplish اللهُGod أمراًa matter كانَwas مفعولاto be fulfilled
ليقضي اللهُ أمراً كانَ مفعولا
And what happened happened—things I do not recount—
And what happened happened, I shall not mention it
so that God might accomplish a matter that was to be fulfilled.
So that God may accomplish what was destined
