وضجَّ الناسُ منْ بدرٍ منيرٍ

يطوفُ مشرَّعاً بينَ الرجالِ

يطوفُ مشرَّعاً بينَ الرجالِ

And the people cried out at a radiant full moon,

The people buzzed about the radiant full moon

Going about, openly displayed, among the men.

Sailing unveiled amongst the men

ذكرْتُ ولا سواءَ بها السبايا

ذكرْتُ ولا سواءَ بها السبايا

وقدْ طافوا بهنَّ على الجمالِ

وقدْ طافوا بهنَّ على الجمالِ

I recalled the captive women—though they were not her equals—

I recalled though unavailing with them the captives

When they had paraded them on camels.

Who were carried on camels to and fro
