وواعظٍand a preacher قَدْindeed أقامestablished عذريmy excuse
وواعظٍ قَدْ أقام عذري
فيfor حبِّهloving him ذلكَthat العذارُdown upon the cheek
في حبِّه ذلكَ العذارُ
And a preacher—my excuse was established
A preacher who pleaded my excuse
For loving him, by that down upon his cheek.
In his love, that excuser
ذكَّرناhe reminded us of جنَّةًParadise وناراand fire
ذكَّرنا جنَّةً ونارا
وخدُّهُand his cheek جنَّةٌParadise ونارُand fire
وخدُّهُ جنَّةٌ ونارُ
He reminded us of Paradise and fire,
Reminded us of Heaven and Hell
And his cheek is Paradise and fire.
While his cheek is Heaven and Hell
