أما وقطافُ رمّانِ النهودِ
وطيبُand the sweetness of عناقِembracing أغصانِthe branches of القدودِthe figures
وطيبُ عناقِ أغصانِ القدودِ
Ah, by the plucking of the pomegranates of breasts,
The harvest of soft breasts
and the sweetness of embracing the branches of slender figures,
And the sweet embrace of tender arms
وتقبيلِand kissing المراشفِthe lips والثناياand the front teeth
وتقبيلِ المراشفِ والثنايا
وعضِّand biting جناءِthe gathered fruit of تفاحِthe apples of الخدودِthe cheeks
وعضِّ جناءِ تفاحِ الخدودِ
and kissing lips and front teeth,
Kissing pillows and curves
and biting the ripe apples of cheeks,
And nibbling rosy cheeks
لقدْindeed سمحَgranted الحبيبُthe beloved بطيبِwith the sweetness of وصلٍunion
لقدْ سمحَ الحبيبُ بطيبِ وصلٍ
فأورَقَso sprouted leaves يابسيmy withered wood واخْضَرَّand turned green عوديmy branch
فأورَقَ يابسي واخْضَرَّ عودي
the beloved has indeed granted sweet union;
My love has allowed a joyous union
so my withered wood sprouted leaves, and my branch turned green.
Barren branches grow leaves, my rod revives
وبتُّand I spent the night قريرcontented عينٍeye للتدانيbecause of closeness
وبتُّ قرير عينٍ للتداني
كماjust as قدْalready كنتُI had been أسهرُstaying awake للصدودِbecause of rejection
كما قدْ كنتُ أسهرُ للصدودِ
And I spent the night contented by closeness,
I sleep peacefully and content
just as I once lay awake because of rejection.
No longer staying up rejected
