ردَّreturn كتابيmy book عليَّto me مغتنماًtaking the chance to gain
ردَّ كتابي عليَّ مغتنماً
مدحيmy praise وبابُand the door الهجاءِof satire مسدودُis closed
مدحي وبابُ الهجاءِ مسدودُ
Return my book to me, taking the chance to earn
my praise, while the door to satire is closed.
فيهin it عيوبٌflaws قدindeed اعترفْتُI have acknowledged بهاto them
فيه عيوبٌ قد اعترفْتُ بها
فارددْهُso return it إنَّindeed المعيبَthe flawed thing مردودُreturned
فارددْهُ إنَّ المعيبَ مردودُ
It has flaws that I have acknowledged;
so return it, for what is flawed is returned.
