أصبحتُ صوفياً أقولُ بشاهدٍ

أصبحتُ صوفياً أقولُ بشاهدٍ

عدلٍ لهُ في الحبِّ ألفُ قبيلِ

عدلٍ لهُ في الحبِّ ألفُ قبيلِ

I have become a Sufi, believing in a witness—

An upright one, with a thousand clans in love with him.

فحسامُ ناظرِهِ وعاملُ قدِّهِ

فحسامُ ناظرِهِ وعاملُ قدِّهِ

قدْ بالغا في الجرحِ والتعديلِ

قدْ بالغا في الجرحِ والتعديلِ

For the sword of his gaze and the spear-shaft of his stature

Have gone to extremes in wounding and attesting uprightness.
