تخاطبنيyou address me بلاwithout كرمٍmagnanimity وحلمٍand forbearance
تخاطبني بلا كرمٍ وحلمٍ
فأحتملُso I endure الأذىthe hurt كرماًout of magnanimity وحلماand forbearance
فأحتملُ الأذى كرماً وحلما
You address me with neither magnanimity nor forbearance;
so I endure the hurt out of magnanimity and forbearance.
ولوand if حَسُنَwere fitting الجوابُthe reply لكانَthen there would be عنديat my disposal
ولو حَسُنَ الجوابُ لكانَ عندي
جوابٌa reply يسمعُmakes hear الصخرَthe rock الأصماdeaf
جوابٌ يسمعُ الصخرَ الأصما
And were a reply fitting, I would have
a reply that would make deaf rock hear.
