مرَّpassed بناby us مقرطَقٌa tunic-clad man
مرَّ بنا مقرطَقٌ
ووجهُهُand his face يحكيresembles القمرْthe moon
ووجهُهُ يحكي القمرْ
A tunic-clad man passed us by.
A joker passed by us,
And his face resembles the moon.
His face tells of the moon,
هذاthis is أبوAbu (father of) لؤلؤةٍLu’lu’a (a pearl)
هذا أبو لؤلؤةٍ
منهُfrom him خذواtake (plural command) ثأرَvengeance عُمَرْUmar
منهُ خذوا ثأرَ عُمَرْ
This is Abu Lu’lu’a.
This is Abu Lu'lu'ah,
Take vengeance on him for Umar.
From him take revenge for Umar.
