خطيبٌ حسنُهُ حسنٌ بديعٌ

خطيبٌ حسنُهُ حسنٌ بديعٌ

وفي الدرجاتِ حُقَّ لهُ الترقي

وفي الدرجاتِ حُقَّ لهُ الترقي

A preacher whose beauty is exquisite;

A preacher, his beauty exquisite

And ascent through the ranks is his rightful due.

In rank deservedly he should ascend

فإنْ لبسَ السوادَ فَبَدْرُ تَمٍّ

فإنْ لبسَ السوادَ فَبَدْرُ تَمٍّ

وإنْ لبسَ البياضَ فشمسُ أفقِ

وإنْ لبسَ البياضَ فشمسُ أفقِ

For if he wears black, he is a full moon;

If he dons black, a full moon he is

And if he wears white, he is the sun on the horizon.

If he dons white, a rising sun on the horizon
