اللهُ أكبرُ مِنْ وباءٍ قدْ سبا

ويصولُ في العقلاءِ كالمجنونِ

God is greater than a plague that has taken people captive,

Allah is greater than a plague that has taken captives,

Assailing the sane like a madman.

And rampages among the sane like a madman.

سنَّتْ أسنتُهُ لكلِّ مدينةٍ

سنَّتْ أسنتُهُ لكلِّ مدينةٍ

فعجبتُ للمكروهِ في المسنونِ

فعجبتُ للمكروهِ في المسنونِ

Its spearheads have been whetted for every city,

Its spearheads were sharpened for every city,

So I marveled at what is hateful in the sharpened blade.
