غريبةُa woman far from الدارِhome سَبَتْcaptured مهجتيmy heart
غريبةُ الدارِ سَبَتْ مهجتي
بالخلفِwith broken promises ألقاهاI meet her وتلقانيand she meets me
بالخلفِ ألقاها وتلقاني
A woman far from home has captured my heart.
The strangeness of my abode has stolen my heart,
With broken promises, I meet her and she meets me.
I cast it behind me and it found me,
مِنْat كثرةِthe abundance of القانيَcrimson منْfrom خدهاher cheek
مِنْ كثرةِ القانيَ منْ خدها
أشكوI complain فيشكوwhile it complains قلةَthe scarcity of القانيcrimson
أشكو فيشكو قلةَ القاني
At the abundance of crimson upon her cheek
From the abundance of its perishers from her cheek,
I complain, while it complains of too little crimson.
I complain of the lack of perishers.
