يا جامعَ المالِ كيما تستريحُ بهِ

يا جامعَ المالِ كيما تستريحُ بهِ

ما راحةُ القلبِ إلاّ للصعاليكِ

ما راحةُ القلبِ إلاّ للصعاليكِ

O you who gather wealth so that you may find rest through it,

O gatherer of wealth so you may rest with it

Peace of heart belongs only to the destitute.

The heart finds no comfort except with the brave

فكنْ فقيراً تعشْ عيشَ الملوكِ ولا

فكنْ فقيراً تعشْ عيشَ الملوكِ ولا

تكنْ غنياً تعشْ عيشَ المماليكِ

تكنْ غنياً تعشْ عيشَ المماليكِ

So be poor, and you will live the life of kings; and do not

So be poor and live the life of kings

Be rich, only to live the life of slaves.

And be not rich and live the life of slaves
