لعونٍ ضحوكٍ للعقول سلوبِ
O seller of wheat grain for union with a young gazelle,
I sell the wheat’s love in the union of Shadan
Ever cursing, ever laughing, a ravisher of minds,
To a laughing flirt to the minds an escape
حظيتَyou have gained بردِّby returning العجزِhelplessness للصبرto patience فاحتقرْso scorn
حظيتَ بردِّ العجزِ للصبر فاحتقرْ
قليبَa well حُبوبgrains فيfor حبيبِa beloved قلوبِhearts
قليبَ حُبوب في حبيبِ قلوبِ
You have gained by returning helplessness to patience; so scorn
You have received the cold of disability to patience so scorn
A well of grain for a beloved of hearts.
