And I remained safe from calamities.

وكدتُ أنالُ في الشرفِ الثريا

وها أنا في الترابِ كما تراني

وها أنا في الترابِ كما تراني

And I nearly reached the Pleiades in eminence,

I almost grasped glory and esteem,

Yet here I am in the dust, as you see me.
