قاضٍ لنا مهما انثنى أو بدا

A judge of ours, whenever he sways or appears,
A judge for us whatever he bent or began
Is envied by the bough and the full moon.
The branch and the moon envy him
قالَsaid لسانُthe tongue الحالِthe circumstance منْfrom ريقِهِhis saliva
قالَ لسانُ الحالِ منْ ريقِهِ
اليومَtoday خمرٌwine وغداًand tomorrow أمرُa command
اليومَ خمرٌ وغداً أمرُ

The tongue of the state said from his saliva
“Today, wine; tomorrow, a command.”
Today is wine and tomorrow bitterness
