وما وصفُ الهزيلةِ مِنْ مرادي

وما وصفُ الهزيلةِ مِنْ مرادي

ولستُ أريدُ إلا ذاتَ شحمِ

ولستُ أريدُ إلا ذاتَ شحمِ

And describing a thin woman is not my aim.

Nor does describing the slender one suit my desire

And I desire only a plump woman.

For I wish nothing but the fleshy of form

أبالتنعيمِ أعدلُ ذاتَ عرقٍ

أبالتنعيمِ أعدلُ ذاتَ عرقٍ

وهلْ تحكي قُمامَةُ بيتَ لحمِ

وهلْ تحكي قُمامَةُ بيتَ لحمِ

Would I equate Dhat ‘Irq with al-Tan‘im?

Is it through luxury that I approximate she of sweat?

And can Qumamah resemble Bayt Lahm?

Can Qumama speak of the house of Bethlehem?
