أذاهُ شاملٌ وشرو
كاملٌcomplete ومنهاجوand his way عسرْdifficult
كاملٌ ومنهاجو عسرْ
His harm is all-encompassing, and his evil
His harm is comprehensive and evil
is complete; his way is difficult.
Complete and his approach is difficult
لوif كانhe were حاويpossessing الخصائصthe distinctive qualities
لو كان حاوي الخصائص
ماnot قالhe advocated بالتنديبْin favor of lamentation
ما قال بالتنديبْ
Had he possessed the virtues,
If it contained good qualities
he would not have advocated lamentation.
He wouldn't lament
ماnot هوhe العزيزthe honored one النهايةthe end
ما هو العزيز النهاية
ولوand he has بدايةa beginning مدوَّنهْrecorded
ولو بداية مدوَّنهْ
He is not honored in the end,
He's not the dear beloved
and he has a recorded beginning.
Even if his beginning is documented
منwhoever يحتقرshows contempt بالمهذبtoward the refined one
من يحتقر بالمهذب
منfrom أينwhere لوfor him تهذيبْrefinement
من أين لو تهذيبْ
Whoever scorns the refined—
Who despises the refined
where would his refinement come from?
Whence will he attain refinement
