بيَI am smitten with مَنْone who لوْif قالَsaid ليto me مبسمُهُhis smiling mouth
بيَ مَنْ لوْ قالَ لي مبسمُهُ
ادنُdraw near والثمْand kiss غرتُI would feel jealous أنْto ألثمَهُI kiss it
ادنُ والثمْ غرتُ أنْ ألثمَهُ
I am smitten with one whose smiling mouth, were it to say to me,
Whoever smiles at me, were to say:
"Draw near and kiss," I would be jealous even of kissing it.
"Come close and kiss me"
عابَfound fault; likely a typo for 'was absent' عنfrom عينيmy sight نهاراًa day كاملاًwhole
عابَ عن عيني نهاراً كاملاً
ليتنيif only I أعلمُI knew مَنْwho علَّمْهُtaught him
ليتني أعلمُ مَنْ علَّمْهُ
He was absent from my sight for a whole day;
I'd spend a whole day gazing in their eyes,
If only I knew who taught him that.
If only I knew who taught them to smile that way.
