قلتُ لهُ طبتَ يا فتى لينا

قلتُ لهُ طبتَ يا فتى لينا

وفِقْتَ حسْناً وَرِقْتَ إحسانا

وفِقْتَ حسْناً وَرِقْتَ إحسانا

I said to him, “Young man, you are sweet in your gentleness,

I said to him, "Good morning to you, O young man,

and you excel in beauty and charm with kindness.

You have attained virtue and excelled in kindness.

قلبي أتاكمْ وخالفُني لِمَهْ

قلبي أتاكمْ وخالفُني لِمَهْ

قالَ نعمْ مذْ عشقتَ لبّانا

قالَ نعمْ مذْ عشقتَ لبّانا

My heart has come to you and defied me—why?”

My heart came to you though I opposed it,

He said, “Yes, ever since you fell in love with a milkman.”

He said "Yes, since you fell in love with Labbanah."
