فقيهٌa jurist إذاwhen طالَgrows long هجرانُهُhis estrangement
فقيهٌ إذا طالَ هجرانُهُ
وصبريand my patience عليهِwith him فعيلَunclear as written التناهيreaching the limit
وصبري عليهِ فعيلَ التناهي
A jurist—when his estrangement grows long,
When the learned departs, and my patience for him reaches its end
and my patience with him is [unclear] in reaching its end—
My nights for Layla, and my eyes in his love
لليليfor my night وعينيَand my eye فيin حبِّهِlove for him
لليلي وعينيَ في حبِّهِ
كتابُbook الطهارةِpurification بابُchapter المياهِwaters
كتابُ الطهارةِ بابُ المياهِ
my night and my eye, in loving him, have
