لكَyou have عاذِلٌa reproacher بثَقيلِهِwith his heavy side وخَفيفِهand his light side
لكَ عاذِلٌ بثَقيلِهِ وخَفيفِه
بيْنَamong النِّدامِthe drinking companions غَبوقُهُhis evening draught وصَبوحُهُand his morning draught
بيْنَ النِّدامِ غَبوقُهُ وصَبوحُهُ
You have a reproacher, with his heavy and his light sides;
Among drinking companions are his evening and morning draughts.
أمّاas for الخَفيفُwhat is light فكَفُّهُthen his hand ودِماغُهُand his brain
أمّا الخَفيفُ فكَفُّهُ ودِماغُهُ
أمّاas for الثّقيلُwhat is heavy فقَوْلُهُthen his speech أوor رُوحُهُhis soul
أمّا الثّقيلُ فقَوْلُهُ أو رُوحُهُ
As for what is light: his hand and his brain;
As for what is heavy: his speech or his soul.
