أَضْرَمَkindled النَّارَthe fire فِيin الْحَشَائِشِthe grasses يَحْيَىYahya
أَضْرَمَ النَّارَ فِي الْحَشَائِشِ يَحْيَى
مِثْلَمَاjust as تُضْرِمُkindles الْحَشيشhashish بِقَلْبِهْin his heart
مِثْلَمَا تُضْرِمُ الْحَشيش بِقَلْبِهْ
Yahya set fire to the grasses,
Yahya set the grass aflame
Just as hashish kindles fire in his heart.
As the grass set his heart aflame
حَفِظَmay preserve اللهُGod قَلْبَهُhis heart مِنْfrom فَسَادٍcorruption
حَفِظَ اللهُ قَلْبَهُ مِنْ فَسَادٍ
مِثْلَمَاjust as يَحْفَظُpreserves اسْمَهُhis name مَعَalong with قَلْبِهْhis heart
مِثْلَمَا يَحْفَظُ اسْمَهُ مَعَ قَلْبِهْ
May God preserve his heart from corruption,
May God preserve his heart from corruption
Just as He preserves his name along with his heart.
As he preserved his name with his heart
