Who would seek affection from a Salawi

    whom God fashioned from vices?

The abyss is his mother, and into it

    his father, after that, plunges.

The transmission of virtue is cut off

from them, if ever you are deemed a narrator.

    Fools—whichever brain you choose

is bereft of marrow, and so is hollow.

    Sick with ignorance—no sage,

    nor physician, nor healer.

They have no rival in vexations,

    no peer, and no equal.

May God make those faces hideous!

    May God refute those claims!

Oh, if only, when I dwelt among them,

I had been a Qinawi in the land of Walatan!
