لمّا رضيتَ بفُرقَتي وبِعادي

لمّا رضيتَ بفُرقَتي وبِعادي

وصَرَمْتَ آمالي وخُنْتَ وِدادي

وصَرَمْتَ آمالي وخُنْتَ وِدادي

When you were content with parting from me and my distance,

When you were pleased with my separation and distance,

And cut off my hopes and betrayed my love,

And dashed my hopes and betrayed my love,

لاعَنْتُ أمَّ الصّبْرِ فيكَ وبَعْدَهُ

لاعَنْتُ أمَّ الصّبْرِ فيكَ وبَعْدَهُ

ورّثْتُ للأشْجانِ كنْزَ فؤادي

ورّثْتُ للأشْجانِ كنْزَ فؤادي

I repudiated patience’s mother by mutual imprecation on your account, and afterward

I cursed the mother of patience in you and after it,

I bequeathed the treasure of my heart to sorrows.

And I bequeathed to sorrows the treasure of my heart.

فالصّبْرُ منّي أجْنَبيُّ بعْدَها

فالصّبْرُ منّي أجْنَبيُّ بعْدَها

ولَواعِجُ الأشْجانِ منْ أوْلادي

ولَواعِجُ الأشْجانِ منْ أوْلادي

So patience is thereafter no kin of mine,

So patience has become foreign to me after her,

And the burning pangs of sorrow are among my children.

And the pangs of sorrow are among my children.
