إذاwhen جعْسوسُJaʿsūs جاءَcomes الىto صَلاةٍprayer
إذا جعْسوسُ جاءَ الى صَلاةٍ
وطالَعناand appears before us بطَلْعَتِهِwith his face النّجِيسَهْfilthy
وطالَعنا بطَلْعَتِهِ النّجِيسَهْ
When Jaʿsūs comes to prayer,
When a spy comes to pray
And appears before us with his filthy face,
And looks at us with his filthy gaze,
رأيْناwe see منْfrom يَديْهِhis two hands ومنand from قَفاهُthe back of his neck
رأيْنا منْ يَديْهِ ومن قَفاهُ
صَليباًa cross قدhas أطلّloomed علَىover كَنيسَهْa church
صَليباً قد أطلّ علَى كَنيسَهْ
We see his hands and the back of his neck forming
We see in his hands and on his nape
