لعَنواthey cursed بريّاًan innocent man منْof خبائِثِthe evils of ظنّهِمْtheir suspicions
لعَنوا بريّاً منْ خبائِثِ ظنّهِمْ
فاللهُso God يَلْعَنُcurses أهْلَthe people of سوقِthe market of العنْبَرِamber
فاللهُ يَلْعَنُ أهْلَ سوقِ العنْبَرِ
They cursed a man innocent of the evils they suspected;
They cursed an innocent with their evil assumptions,
may God curse the people of the amber market!
So may God curse the people of the amber market.
واللهِby God لاnever أوْطأتُI made tread ساقيmy leg سُوقَهُمْtheir market
واللهِ لا أوْطأتُ ساقي سُوقَهُمْ
أبَدَforever الزّمانِtime فتِلْكَfor that سوقُthe market of العَنْcurse! بَريan innocent man
أبَدَ الزّمانِ فتِلْكَ سوقُ العَنْ بَري
By God, I shall never set foot in their market
By God, I will never set foot in their market,
for all time—for that is the market of “Curse an innocent!”
For all time, for that is the market of shame.
