لشَتّىbecause of varied هُمومٍcares منْهُfrom it فِكْريَmy mind يُحْييهاkeeps them alive
The revolving celestial sphere has kept my eyelid from sleep,
for the varied cares it brings, which my mind keeps alive.
أراهُI see it رَحَىa grindstone قَيْنٍa smith وعُمْريَand my life صَفْحَةٌa sheet of metal

I see it as a smith’s grindstone, and my life as a sheet of metal;
it passes over it again and again as it turns, and so wears it away.
