The reed pen used it to deceive, then embellished it.
The shepherd was deceived by it, so he embroidered it,
And I asked earnestly about the purpose.
And I asked a diligent man the purpose,
فعَلِمْتُthen I learned أنّthat الصُّلْحَreconciliation مَقصَدُهُits aim

Then I learned that reconciliation was its aim,
So I knew that reconciliation was his aim,
so that some of the suburb’s hostility might cease.
That some of the enmity of spring would pass away.
