أَوَ مِثْلَ حُلَّتِهِ يُحَاكُ بِلاَ عَلَمْ
The pen of beauty traced the nūn of his cheek-down.
The pen of beauty has drawn the N of his charm,
The Pen of Beauty inscribed the 'Nun' of his cheek's soft line,
And is a robe like his woven without an ornamental border?
Or is it a garment woven without a loom?
For can a robe like his be woven without a distinguishing sign?
لاَdo not تَتَّقُواfear عَيْناًan evil eye تُصِيبُstriking جَمَالَهُhis beauty
لاَ تَتَّقُوا عَيْناً تُصِيبُ جَمَالَهُ
فَاللهُfor God عَوَّذَهُprotected him بِنُونٍwith Nūn وَالْقَلَمْand the Pen
فَاللهُ عَوَّذَهُ بِنُونٍ وَالْقَلَمْ
Do not fear an evil eye striking his beauty,
Do not fear an eye that perceives his beauty,
Fear not the envious eye that seeks to strike his lovely face,
For God has protected him with Nūn and the Pen.
For God has protected him with the N and the pen.
For God has shielded him with 'Nun and the Pen' and grace.
