فَعَلَ الْخَاطِرُ الْمُصَدِّقُ فِعْلاً

فَعَلَ الْخَاطِرُ الْمُصَدِّقُ فِعْلاً

ظَهَرَتْ فِيهِ لِلْعِيَانِ الْكَرَامَهْ

ظَهَرَتْ فِيهِ لِلْعِيَانِ الْكَرَامَهْ

The believing mind wrought a deed

The truthful intuition acted

in which a miracle became plain to sight.

In it the miracle appeared clearly

إِذْ دَعَانِي لِكَتْبِ شَيْءٍ تَعَاطَى

إِذْ دَعَانِي لِكَتْبِ شَيْءٍ تَعَاطَى

غَيْرُهُ مِنِّيَ الْبَنَانُ وَرَامَهْ

غَيْرُهُ مِنِّيَ الْبَنَانُ وَرَامَهْ

When it called me to write something,

When it called me to write something

my own fingers undertook and sought something else.

Others shunned from me, prudence and carefulness

فَكَبَا لِلْيَرَاعِ طِرْفٌ عَتِيقٌ

فَكَبَا لِلْيَرَاعِ طِرْفٌ عَتِيقٌ

قد أَجَدْتُ اخْتِيَارَهُ وَاعْتِيَامَهْ

قد أَجَدْتُ اخْتِيَارَهُ وَاعْتِيَامَهْ

So the reed pen's thoroughbred steed stumbled—

So the eyelids inclined to watchfulness

I had chosen and selected it well.

I found its choice and reliance

وَتَعَشَّى النَّهَارُ مِنْ صَفْحَةِ الطِّرْ

وَتَعَشَّى النَّهَارُ مِنْ صَفْحَةِ الطِّرْ

سِ مِدَاداً أَضْفَى عَلَيْهِ ظَلاَمَهْ

سِ مِدَاداً أَضْفَى عَلَيْهِ ظَلاَمَهْ

And daylight supped from the written sheet's surface

And the day smiled from the page of the book

on ink that cast its darkness over it.

An ink that cast upon it darkness

إِنَّ لِلصِّدقِ فِي الْوُجُودِ شُيُوخاً

إِنَّ لِلصِّدقِ فِي الْوُجُودِ شُيُوخاً

قَدْ تَبَدَّتْ لَهَا أَصَحُّ عَلاَمَهْ

قَدْ تَبَدَّتْ لَهَا أَصَحُّ عَلاَمَهْ

Indeed, truthfulness has masters in this world,

Indeed, truthfulness in existence has elders

for whom the surest sign has appeared.

Its most valid signs appeared

فَارْغَبِ اللهَ فِي الْوِقَايَةِ وَاسْأَلْ

فَارْغَبِ اللهَ فِي الْوِقَايَةِ وَاسْأَلْ

مِنْهُ سُبْحَانَهُ الْهُدَى وَالسَّلاَمَهْ

مِنْهُ سُبْحَانَهُ الْهُدَى وَالسَّلاَمَهْ

So beseech God for protection, and ask

So desire God for protection and ask

Him—glory be to Him—for guidance and safety.

From Him, glorified is He, guidance and safety
