الحَمْدُpraise للّهِto God كمْhow much للّهِbelongs to God منْof جودٍbounty
الحَمْدُ للّهِ كمْ للّهِ منْ جودٍ
وحِكْمَةٍand wisdom ظهَرَتْhas appeared فيin كلِّevery موْجودِexisting thing
وحِكْمَةٍ ظهَرَتْ في كلِّ موْجودِ
Praise be to God! How abundant are God's bounty
Praise be to Allah, how much goodness Allah has
and wisdom, manifest in all that exists!
And wisdom that appears in all creation
باللّهِby God آلَO house of مَرينٍMarin أبْشِرواrejoice وثِقواand trust
باللّهِ آلَ مَرينٍ أبْشِروا وثِقوا
بكُلِّin every سعْدٍgood fortune علىthroughout الأيّامِthe days ممْدودِextended
بكُلِّ سعْدٍ على الأيّامِ ممْدودِ
By God, O house of Marin, rejoice and trust
Have hope and be confident, O people of the Lord
in every good fortune, enduring through the days.
In every happiness that is destined for the days
فمُلْكُكُمْfor your kingdom بسُليْمانَunder Sulayman بْنِson of داوُدَDawud فيin
فمُلْكُكُمْ بسُليْمانَ بْنِ داوُدَ في
العِزِّglory مُلْكُthe kingdom of سُليْمانَSolomon بْنِson of داوودِDavid
العِزِّ مُلْكُ سُليْمانَ بْنِ داوودِ
For your kingdom under Sulayman son of Dawud, in
For your kingdom is with Sulayman son of Dawud
glory, is the kingdom of Solomon son of David.
A kingdom of glory, Sulayman son of Dawud
لاnot يَنْبَغيis fitting لسِواكُمْfor anyone other than you بعْدَكُمafter you فلَكُمْfor yours is
لا يَنْبَغي لسِواكُمْ بعْدَكُم فلَكُمْ
فخْرٌglory علىabove الخُلَفاءِthe caliphs الجِلّةِillustrious الصّيدِlordly
فخْرٌ على الخُلَفاءِ الجِلّةِ الصّيدِ
It shall belong to no others after you; for yours is
After you none should rule, for you have
glory above the illustrious, lordly caliphs.
Supremacy over the great caliphs of the hunt
قدْindeed حلّsettled فيon جبَلٍa mountain للفَتْحِto conquest مُنْتَسِبٍlinked
قدْ حلّ في جبَلٍ للفَتْحِ مُنْتَسِبٍ
بالفَتْحِof conquest مفْتَخِرٍproud بالفتْحِwith conquest موْعودِpromised
بالفَتْحِ مفْتَخِرٍ بالفتْحِ موْعودِ
He has settled on a mountain linked to conquest,
He has settled on a mountain of victory
proud of conquest, promised conquest.
Triumphant with victory, promised victory
سَفينَةُthe ship of الأملِhope المَمْدودِfar-reaching قدindeed سبَحَتْsailed
سَفينَةُ الأملِ المَمْدودِ قد سبَحَتْ
فيin جودِهِhis bounty واسْتَوَتْand came to rest منْهُfrom him علىupon الجوديal-Judi
في جودِهِ واسْتَوَتْ منْهُ على الجودي
The ship of far-reaching hope has sailed
The ship of hope stretched forth has sailed
in his bounty, and through him has come to rest upon al-Judi.
In his generosity, steady in generosity
شدّواhold fast علَيْهِto him يَدَthe hand of المُعْتَدِّone who relies فهْوَfor he is لكُمْfor you
شدّوا علَيْهِ يَدَ المُعْتَدِّ فهْوَ لكُمْ
ذُخْرٌa treasure مُقلَّدٌhung as a necklace فيat نَحْرٍthe upper chest وفيand at جِيدِthe neck
ذُخْرٌ مُقلَّدٌ في نَحْرٍ وفي جِيدِ
Hold fast to him with a trusting hand, for he is your
Seize the hand of the transgressor, for he is for you
treasure, hung as a necklace at breast and neck.
