تَقُولُsays غَرْنَاطَةٌGranada يَوْماًone day لِمَالَقَةٍto Málaga
لَمَّاwhen اسْتَرَاحَتْshe took comfort لِوَعْدٍin a promise مِنْكَfrom you مَرْقُوبِawaited
One day Granada says to Málaga,
Granada once said to Malaga
when she took comfort in an awaited promise from you:
When she rested from your promised vigil
أَمْسَكْتِyou kept back يُوسُفَYusuf عَنِّيfrom me فِعْلَthe act of ظَالِمَةٍan unjust woman
فَهَلْso, is there لِيَfor me الْيَوْمَtoday إلاَّanything but حُزْنُthe sorrow of يَعْقُوبِYaqub
“You kept Yusuf from me, as an unjust woman would;
You withheld Joseph from me, an unjust deed
so what have I today but the sorrow of Yaqub?”
So today do I have anything but Jacob's sorrow?
