يا ذَا الذُّؤابَةِ إلا أنّهُ سَعْدُ

هلْ يَقْرُبُ الوَصْلُ أو هلْ يُنْجَزُ الوعْدُ

هلْ يَقْرُبُ الوَصْلُ أو هلْ يُنْجَزُ الوعْدُ

O you with the forelock—yet you are good fortune!

Does union draw near, or will the promise be fulfilled?

بي منْكَ ما لوْ غَدا بالشّمْسِ ما طَلَعَتْ

بي منْكَ ما لوْ غَدا بالشّمْسِ ما طَلَعَتْ

أو بالغَمامَةِ لمْ يُسْمَعْ لَها رعْدُ

أو بالغَمامَةِ لمْ يُسْمَعْ لَها رعْدُ

Because of you I bear what, had it afflicted the sun, would have kept it from rising;

Or, had it afflicted the cloud, no thunder would have been heard from it.
