أيَاO عُمَرَUmar الْعَدْلِof justice الَّذِيwhom مَطَلkept waiting الْمَدَىtime
أيَا عُمَرَ الْعَدْلِ الَّذِي مَطَل الْمَدَى
بِوَعْدِwith a promise of الْهُدَىguidance حَتَّىuntil وَفَيْتُI fulfilled بِدَيْنِهِby paying its debt
بِوَعْدِ الْهُدَى حَتَّى وَفَيْتُ بِدَيْنِهِ
O Umar of justice, whom time kept waiting
O Umar, embodiment of justice whose promise
with a promise of guidance, until I discharged its debt.
Of guidance was fulfilled till the debt was paid
وَيَاand O صَارِمَkeen sword of الْمُلْكِkingship الَّذِيwhich يَسْتَعِدُّهit holds ready
وَيَا صَارِمَ الْمُلْكِ الَّذِي يَسْتَعِدُّه
لِدَفْعِto repel عِدَاهُits enemies أَوْor لِمَجْلِسِfor the court of زَيْنِهِits adornment
لِدَفْعِ عِدَاهُ أَوْ لِمَجْلِسِ زَيْنِهِ
And O keen sword of kingship, which it holds ready
O strict wielder of power, ever ready
to repel its enemies or to adorn its court.
To fend off harm or for council arrayed
هَنَتْgladdened عَيْنَكَyour eye الْيَقْظَىthe watchful مِنfrom اللهِGod عِصْمَةٌprotection
هَنَتْ عَيْنَكَ الْيَقْظَى مِن اللهِ عِصْمَةٌ
كَفَتْspared وَجْهَthe face of دِينِthe religion of اللهِGod مَوْقِعَthe incidence of شَيْنِهِits disfigurement
كَفَتْ وَجْهَ دِينِ اللهِ مَوْقِعَ شَيْنِهِ
Protection from God has gladdened your watchful eye,
Your wakeful eye was shielded by God above
sparing the face of God's religion the touch of disfigurement.
And guarded faith from the least shame and sting
وَهَلْand are...? أَنْتَyou إِلاَanything but المُلْكُkingship وَand الدِّينُreligion وَالدُّنَىand the worlds
وَهَلْ أَنْتَ إِلاَ المُلْكُ وَ الدِّينُ وَالدُّنَى
وَلاَand not يُلْبَسُis mingled الْحَقُّtruth الْمُبِينُthe manifest بِمَيْنِهِwith its falsehood
وَلاَ يُلْبَسُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِينُ بِمَيْنِهِ
And are you anything but kingship, religion, and the worlds?
For you are naught but religion, rule, and love
And manifest truth is not mingled with its falsehood.
And truth gleams bright of any garbing
إِذَاif نَالَreached مِنْكَof yours الْعَيْنَthe eye ضُرُّharm فَإِنَّمَاthen only
إِذَا نَالَ مِنْكَ الْعَيْنَ ضُرُّ فَإِنَّمَا
أُصيبَwas struck بِهِby it الإِسْلاَمُIslam فِيin عَيْنِthe eye of عَيْنِهِits eye
أُصيبَ بِهِ الإِسْلاَمُ فِي عَيْنِ عَيْنِهِ
If harm touches your eye, then it is only
If your eye is struck by harm, in its vision
Islam that is struck by it in the eye of its own eye.
Tis Islam itself that is wounded within
