لاَشُكْرَno thanks لِيto me إِنْif كُنْتُI was قَدْalready أَحْبَبَتُكُمْI loved you
لاَشُكْرَ لِي إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ أَحْبَبَتُكُمْ
أَوْor أَنَّنِيthat I اسْتَوْلَىtook hold عَلَيَّof me هَوَاكُمُlove for you
أَوْ أَنَّنِي اسْتَوْلَى عَلَيَّ هَوَاكُمُ
No credit is due me if I have loved you,
No thanks are due to me if I have loved you,
or if your love has taken possession of me,
Or if love for you has taken hold of me,
طَوْعاًwillingly وَكرْهاًand unwillingly مَاwhat تَرَوْنَyou see فَإِنَّنِيfor indeed I
طَوْعاً وَكرْهاً مَا تَرَوْنَ فَإِنَّنِي
طُفْتُI roamed الْوُجُودَexistence فَمَاand not وَجَدْتُI found سِوَاكُمُother than you
طُفْتُ الْوُجُودَ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ سِوَاكُمُ
willingly or unwillingly—what think you? For I
