قال لي صاحِبي وقدْ بانَ زُهْدي

قال لي صاحِبي وقدْ بانَ زُهْدي

عنْدَما أمّلَ الهُمامُ العَميدُ

عنْدَما أمّلَ الهُمامُ العَميدُ

My friend said to me, as my detachment had become clear,

When the magnanimous leader held out hope:

لِمَ أعْرَضْتَ واسْتَهَنْتَ بهَذا

لِمَ أعْرَضْتَ واسْتَهَنْتَ بهَذا

قلتُ أغْناني الغَنيُّ الحَميدُ

قلتُ أغْناني الغَنيُّ الحَميدُ

“Why did you turn away and make light of this?”

I said, “The Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy, has enriched me.”
