أخي لا تَقُلْ كَذِباً إنْ نَطَقْتَ

أخي لا تَقُلْ كَذِباً إنْ نَطَقْتَ

فللنّاسِ في الصِّدْقِ فَضْلٌ وَضَحْ

فللنّاسِ في الصِّدْقِ فَضْلٌ وَضَحْ

My brother, tell no lie when you speak.

My brother, do not say lies when you speak

For people, there is clear merit in truthfulness.

For people have virtue in truthfulness, clear

وخَفْ إنْ كَذَبْتَ طُرُوَّ افتِضاحِ

وخَفْ إنْ كَذَبْتَ طُرُوَّ افتِضاحِ

فَما كَذَبَ الفَجْرُ إلا افْتَضَحْ

فَما كَذَبَ الفَجْرُ إلا افْتَضَحْ

And if you lie, fear the coming of exposure.

And beware if you lie, quickly it appears

For dawn has never lied without being exposed.

For false dawn never comes but is laid bare
