Morning's falcon has shaken the bell,

    and dawn has appeared.

    So, O raven of night,

    quicken your wing!

    the ghada shrub's embers.

And it rose above the darkness as it passed

    and spread out.

it gathers, when it grows rough, the pearls of daisies.

And the rain-watered trees willingly incline

in thanks for the grace of Him who tried them, and for bounty

If they have entrusted to the winds' soft breaths

    cups of wine,

then the slender forms of the boughs find delight in them.

it has been brought to nothing?

Or will time assist in attaining a wish?

    This is a distant prospect.

Or will the heart soften after its unruliness?

Time is an arena for a savage war

    among the planted trees.

A war that dispenses with all force and misery,

You set me ablaze in war with the fire of wrongdoing

    between the bones.

War on whoever falls short of me and remains

    in nothingness.

O you who shame the moons, while the sky gleams

    at your appearance,

    by drinking wine,

for no blame falls on lovers.
