حَمِدْتُI praised عَلَىdespite فَرْطِthe extremity of الْمَشَقَّةِthe hardship رِحْلَةًa journey
أَتَاحَتْit afforded لِعَينِيto my eye اجْتِلاَءَbeholding مُحَيَّاكَاyour face
In love’s excess, I praised your mercy toward me;
I praised a journey, despite its extreme hardship,
it let my eyes behold your countenance.
That let my eye behold your face.
وَقَدْand indeed كُنْتُI had been بِالتَّذْكَارِwith remembrance فِيin الْبُعْدِseparation قَانِعاًcontent
وَبِالرِّيحِand with the wind إِنْif هَبَّتْit blew بِعَاطرwith the fragrance of رَيَّاكَاyour scent
I had been content, while far away, with remembrance,
And I had been content, far away, with remembrance,
and with the breeze whenever it blew, laden with your fragrant scent.
And with the wind, if it carried your fragrant scent.
فَجَلَّتْso it grew great لِيَfor me النُّعْمَىthe blessing بِمَاthrough what أَنْعَمَتْit bestowed بِهِwith it
عَلَيَّupon me فَحَيَّاهَاso may He bless it الإِلاَهُGod وَحَيَّاكَاand may He bless you
How great to me was the blessing in what it bestowed
So great was its favor to me through what it bestowed
upon me—may God bless it, and bless you.
Upon me—may God bless it and bless you.
