رأيتُ بكفِّكَ اعْتِبارا
بأساًmight ونَدىًand generosity ماnot إنْemphasizes negation يُبارىis rivaled
بأساً ونَدىً ما إنْ يُبارى
I saw in your palm a lesson:
I saw in your palm such wonders
Might and generosity beyond compare.
Might and dew that cannot be matched
فقُلْتُso I said وقدand already عجِبْتُI marveled منْهاat it
فقُلْتُ وقد عجِبْتُ منْها
ياO بَحْرُsea متىwhen تَعودُyou become ناراfire
يا بَحْرُ متى تَعودُ نارا
So I said, marveling at it:
So I exclaimed, amazed by it
O sea, when do you become fire?
O sea, when will you turn to fire?
