قُلْتُI said لَمَّاwhen اسْتَقَلَّdeemed scant مَوْلاَيَmy lord زَرْعِيmy crop

وَرَأَى غَلَّةَ الَّطعَامِ قّلِيلَهْ
I said, when my lord deemed my crop scant
I said when my Master saw that my crop was scanty,
and saw that the grain yield was meagre:
And the harvest small, my zeal for ploughing ceased,
دِمْنَتِيmy manured plot لاِنْتِجَاعِيfrom my seeking sustenance الْحَرْثَtillage كَلَّتْgrew weary
دِمْنَتِي لاِنْتِجَاعِي الْحَرْثَ كَلَّتْ
فهِيَso it is الْيَوْمَtoday دِمْنَةٌa manured plot (Dimna) وَكَلِيلَهْand weary (Kalila)
فهِيَ الْيَوْمَ دِمْنَةٌ وَكَلِيلَهْ
“My manured plot has grown weary from my seeking sustenance through tillage;
So that zeal today has dwindled and decreased,
so today it is a manured plot (Dimna), and weary (Kalila).”
My crop being scanty and my harvest meagre.
