لاَ نَاقَةٌ ليَ فِي صَبْرِي وَلاَ جَمَلُ

لاَ نَاقَةٌ ليَ فِي صَبْرِي وَلاَ جَمَلُ

مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظَعَنَ اْلأَحْبَابُ وَاحْتَمَلُوا

مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظَعَنَ اْلأَحْبَابُ وَاحْتَمَلُوا

I have neither she-camel nor camel in my patience,

I have no patience nor endurance

Ever since my loved ones departed and journeyed away.

After companions have departed and borne sorrows

قَالُوا اسْتَقَلُّوا بِعَيْنِ الْفِطْرِ قُلْتُ لَهُمْ

قَالُوا اسْتَقَلُّوا بِعَيْنِ الْفِطْرِ قُلْتُ لَهُمْ

مَا عَرَّسُوا بِسِوَى قَلْبِي وَلاَ نَزَلُوا

مَا عَرَّسُوا بِسِوَى قَلْبِي وَلاَ نَزَلُوا

They said, “They set off at ʿAyn al-Fiṭr”; I said to them:

They said, “We saw with our own eyes the breaking of the fast”

“They neither camped for the night nor alighted anywhere but in my heart.”

I said to them, “You have not tasted my heart, nor taken lodging there”
