1. لكَ عاذِلٌ بثَقيلِهِ وخَفيفِه

    بيْنَ النِّدامِ غَبوقُهُ وصَبوحُهُ

    You have a faultfinder, with his heavy and his light sides;

    His evening and morning draughts are taken among drinking companions.

  2. أمّا الخَفيفُ فكَفُّهُ ودِماغُهُ

    أمّا الثّقيلُ فقَوْلُهُ أو رُوحُهُ

    As for what is light: his hand and his brain;

    As for what is heavy: his speech or his spirit.
