خَليفَةَ اللهِ ساعَدَ القَدَرُ

خَليفَةَ اللهِ ساعَدَ القَدَرُ

عُلاكَ ما لاحَ في الدُّجى قَمَرُ

عُلاكَ ما لاحَ في الدُّجى قَمَرُ

O Caliph of God, may destiny aid

your exalted rank as long as a moon shines in the dark;

ودافَعَتْ عنْكَ كفُّ قُدْرَتِهِ

ودافَعَتْ عنْكَ كفُّ قُدْرَتِهِ

ما ليْسَ يسْتَطيعُ دَفْعهُ البَشَرُ

ما ليْسَ يسْتَطيعُ دَفْعهُ البَشَرُ

and may the hand of His power ward off from you

what humankind cannot repel.

ليْسَ لَنا ملْجأٌ نؤمِّلُهُ

ليْسَ لَنا ملْجأٌ نؤمِّلُهُ

سِواكَ أنتَ الثِّمال والوَزَرُ

سِواكَ أنتَ الثِّمال والوَزَرُ

We have no refuge to place our hopes in

other than you; you are our protector and refuge.

وجْهُكَ في النّائِباتِ بدْرُ دُجىً

وجْهُكَ في النّائِباتِ بدْرُ دُجىً

لَنا وفي المحْلِ كفُّكَ المطَرُ

لَنا وفي المحْلِ كفُّكَ المطَرُ

Your face amid calamities is a full moon in darkness

for us; and in drought your hand is rain.

والنّاسُ طُرّاً بأرْضِ أندَلُسٍ

والنّاسُ طُرّاً بأرْضِ أندَلُسٍ

لوْلاكَ ما أوطَنوا ولا عمَروا

لوْلاكَ ما أوطَنوا ولا عمَروا

And all the people in the land of al-Andalus,

but for you, would neither have settled nor built it up.

وجُمْلَةُ الأمْرِ أنّهُ وطَنٌ

وجُمْلَةُ الأمْرِ أنّهُ وطَنٌ

في غيْرِ عُلْياكَ ما لهُ وطَرُ

في غيْرِ عُلْياكَ ما لهُ وطَرُ

And, in sum, it is a homeland

that desires nothing but your exalted majesty.

ومَنْ بهِ مُذْ وصَلْتَ حبْلَهُمُ

ومَنْ بهِ مُذْ وصَلْتَ حبْلَهُمُ

ما جَحَدوا نِعْمَةً ولا كَفُروا

ما جَحَدوا نِعْمَةً ولا كَفُروا

And those within it, since you joined their cord to yours,

have neither denied a favor nor been ungrateful.

وقدْ أهَمّتْهُمُ نُفوسُهُمُ

وقدْ أهَمّتْهُمُ نُفوسُهُمُ

فوجّهوني إلَيْكَ وانْتَظَروا

فوجّهوني إلَيْكَ وانْتَظَروا

And their own lives have filled them with concern,

so they sent me to you and waited.
