يَاO جُمْلَةَembodiment of الفَضْلِexcellence وَالْوَفَاءِand fidelity
يَا جُمْلَةَ الفَضْلِ وَالْوَفَاءِ
مَاthere is no بِمَعَالِيكَin your lofty merits مِنْany (emphatic) خَفَاءِobscurity
مَا بِمَعَالِيكَ مِنْ خَفَاءِ
O embodiment of excellence and fidelity,
your lofty merits are in no way hidden.
عِنْدِيwith me لِلْوُدِّfor affection فِيكَtoward you عَقْدٌa bond
عِنْدِي لِلْوُدِّ فِيكَ عَقْدٌ
صَحَّحَهُconfirmed it الدَّهْرُtime باكْتِفَاءِsufficiently
صَحَّحَهُ الدَّهْرُ باكْتِفَاءِ
I hold a bond of affection for you,
which time has duly confirmed.
مَاnot كُنْتُI would أَقْضِيrender عُلاَكَyour eminence حَقّاًits due
مَا كُنْتُ أَقْضِي عُلاَكَ حَقّاً
لَوْeven if جِئْتُI brought مَدْحاًpraise بِكُلِّwith every فَاءِfāʾ (the Arabic letter)
لَوْ جِئْتُ مَدْحاً بِكُلِّ فَاءِ
I could not give your eminence its due,
even were I to offer praise with every fāʾ.
فأوْلِso grant وَجْهَthe face of القَبُولِacceptance عُذْرِيmy excuse
فأوْلِ وَجْهَ القَبُولِ عُذْرِي
وَجَنِّبِand banish الشَّكَّdoubt فِيabout صَفَاءِsincerity
وَجَنِّبِ الشَّكَّ فِي صَفَاءِ
So turn an accepting face toward my excuse,
and banish doubt about my sincerity.
