تَأَمَّلِcontemplate الرَّمْلَthe sand فِيin الْمَكَانِthe place مُنْطَلِقاًflowing freely
تَأَمَّلِ الرَّمْلَ فِي الْمَكَانِ مُنْطَلِقاً
يَجْرِيit flows وَقَدِّرْهُand reckon it عُمْراًa lifetime مِنْكَfrom you مُنْتَهَبَاplundered
يَجْرِي وَقَدِّرْهُ عُمْراً مِنْكَ مُنْتَهَبَا
Contemplate the sand in its place, flowing freely,
Contemplate the sand in its place flowing
As it runs, and reckon it a lifetime plundered from you.
And give it a lifetime borrowed from you
وَاللهِby God لَوْif كَانَwere وَاديthe valley of الَّرمْلِsand يُنْجِدُهُreplenishing it
وَاللهِ لَوْ كَانَ وَادي الَّرمْلِ يُنْجِدُهُ
مَاnot طَالَlasted long طَائِلُهُits store إِلاَّexcept وَقَدْand already ذَهَبَاit had gone
مَا طَالَ طَائِلُهُ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَا
By God, even if the valley of sand were replenishing it,
By God if the valley of sand could save it
Its store would not last long before it was gone.
Its misfortune would not last before it's gone
