هَنِيئاً بِمَا خُوّلتَ مِنْ رِفْعَةِ الشَّانِ

هَنِيئاً بِمَا خُوّلتَ مِنْ رِفْعَةِ الشَّانِ

وَإِنْ كَرِهَ الْبَاغِي وَإِنْ رَغِمَ الشَّانِي

وَإِنْ كَرِهَ الْبَاغِي وَإِنْ رَغِمَ الشَّانِي

Congratulations on the lofty station you have been granted,

Congratulations on the high rank you've been granted

Though the aggressor resent it and the hater be humbled;

Though the envious dislike it and detractors resent it

وَأن خَصَّكَ الرَّحْمَانُ جَلَّ جَلاَلَهُ

وَأن خَصَّكَ الرَّحْمَانُ جَلَّ جَلاَلَهُ

بِمعْجِزَةٍ مَنْسُوبَةٍ لِسُلَيْمَانِ

بِمعْجِزَةٍ مَنْسُوبَةٍ لِسُلَيْمَانِ

And on the Most Merciful—exalted be His majesty—singling you out

The Most Merciful specially chose you—Exalted is His Majesty—

With a miracle attributed to Solomon.

With a miracle attributed to Solomon.

أَغَارَ عَلَى كُرْسِيِّهِ بَعْضُ جِنِّهِ

أَغَارَ عَلَى كُرْسِيِّهِ بَعْضُ جِنِّهِ

فَأَلْقَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا مَقَالِدَ إِذْعَانِ

فَأَلْقَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا مَقَالِدَ إِذْعَانِ

Some of his jinn assailed his throne,

One of his jinn was unsettled by his throne

So the world laid before him the keys of submission.

So the world cast before him thrones of submission.

فَلَمَّا رَآهَا فِتْنَةً خَرَّ سَاجِداً

فَلَمَّا رَآهَا فِتْنَةً خَرَّ سَاجِداً

وَقَالَ إِلاَهِي امْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِغُفْرَانِ

وَقَالَ إِلاَهِي امْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِغُفْرَانِ

Then, when he saw it as a trial, he fell prostrate,

When he saw them as a temptation, he fell prostrating

And said, 'My God, bestow forgiveness upon me,

And said "My God, grant me forgiveness."

وَهَبْ لِيَ مُلْكاً بَعْدَهَا لَيْسَ يَنْبَغِي

وَهَبْ لِيَ مُلْكاً بَعْدَهَا لَيْسَ يَنْبَغِي

تَقَلُّدُهُ بَعْدِي لإِنْسٍ وَلاَ جَانِ

تَقَلُّدُهُ بَعْدِي لإِنْسٍ وَلاَ جَانِ

And grant me afterward a kingdom that should not

"And grant me a kingdom after this that is not fit

Be assumed after me by any human or jinn.'

To be taken by human or jinn after me."

فآتَاهُ لَمَّا أَنْ أَجَابَ دُعَاءَهُ

فآتَاهُ لَمَّا أَنْ أَجَابَ دُعَاءَهُ

مِنَ الْعِزِّ مَا لَمْ يُؤتَ يَوْماً لإِنْسَانِ

مِنَ الْعِزِّ مَا لَمْ يُؤتَ يَوْماً لإِنْسَانِ

So, when He answered his prayer, He granted him

So when He answered his prayer,

Glory such as no human had ever been given.

He gave him glory never granted any man.

وَإِنْ كَانَ هَذَا الأَمْرُ فِي الدَّهْرِ مُفْرَداً

وَإِنْ كَانَ هَذَا الأَمْرُ فِي الدَّهْرِ مُفْرَداً

فَأَنتَ لَهُ لَمَّا اقْتَديْتَ بِهِ الثَّانِي

فَأَنتَ لَهُ لَمَّا اقْتَديْتَ بِهِ الثَّانِي

Though this affair had been unique through the ages,

If this matter was unique in history,

You are his second, since you followed his example.

You are the second to follow his example.

فَقَابِلْ صَنِيعَ اللهِ بِالشُّكْرِ وَاسْتَعِنْ

فَقَابِلْ صَنِيعَ اللهِ بِالشُّكْرِ وَاسْتَعِنْ

بِهِ وَاجْزِ إِحْسَانَ الالإَِهِ بإِحْسَانِ

بِهِ وَاجْزِ إِحْسَانَ الالإَِهِ بإِحْسَانِ

So meet God's favor with gratitude, and seek help

So meet God's blessing with thanks, seek His help,

From Him, and repay God's kindness with kindness.

And reward the kindness of the God with kindness.

وَحَقِّ الَّذِي سَمَّاكَ بِاسْمِ مُحَمَّدٍ

وَحَقِّ الَّذِي سَمَّاكَ بِاسْمِ مُحَمَّدٍ

لَوَ أَنَّ الصِّبّا قَدْ عَادَ مِنْهُ بِرَيْعَانِ

لَوَ أَنَّ الصِّبّا قَدْ عَادَ مِنْهُ بِرَيْعَانِ

And by the honor of the one who named you Muhammad,

By the right of the One who named you Muhammad—

If youth had returned in its first bloom,

If youth could return from it rejuvenated—

لَمَا بَلَغَ النُّعْمَى عَلَيْكَ سُرُورُهُ

لَمَا بَلَغَ النُّعْمَى عَلَيْكَ سُرُورُهُ

أَلِيَّةَ وَافٍ لاَ ألِيَّةَ خَوَّانِ

أَلِيَّةَ وَافٍ لاَ ألِيَّةَ خَوَّانِ

Its joy would not match that of the blessing bestowed on you—

Joy for your blessing would not have reached

An oath of a loyal man, not an oath of a traitor.

The perfection of a loyal ally, not a betraying ally.

فَإِنِّي أَنَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّرِيحُ انْتِسَابُهُ

فَإِنِّي أَنَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّرِيحُ انْتِسَابُهُ

كَمَا أَنْتَ مَوْلاَيَ الْعَزِيزُ وَسُلْطَانِي

كَمَا أَنْتَ مَوْلاَيَ الْعَزِيزُ وَسُلْطَانِي

For I am the servant whose allegiance is clear,

I am the frank servant, my affiliation announced,

Just as you are my mighty lord and my sultan.

As you are my noble master and sultan.

إِذَا كُنْتَ فِي عِزٍّ وَمُلْكٍ وغِبْطَةٍ

إِذَا كُنْتَ فِي عِزٍّ وَمُلْكٍ وغِبْطَةٍ

فَقَدْ نِلْتُ أَوْطَارِي وَرَاجَعْتُ أَوْطَانِي

فَقَدْ نِلْتُ أَوْطَارِي وَرَاجَعْتُ أَوْطَانِي

If you enjoy glory, kingship, and happiness,

When you possess glory, kingdom, and fortune,

Then I have attained my desires and returned to my homelands.

I have attained my goals and returned to my homelands.
