هِيَ أَسْعَدُ مَا دُونَهُنَّ حِجَابُ

هِيَ أَسْعَدُ مَا دُونَهُنَّ حِجَابُ

لا يَنْقَضِي عَدٌّ لَهَا وَحِسَابُ

لا يَنْقَضِي عَدٌّ لَهَا وَحِسَابُ

They are most auspicious; no veil stands before them.

No end comes to their counting or reckoning.

وَبَشائِر ٌتَصِلُ النُّفُوسَ كَأَنَّمَا

وَبَشائِر ٌتَصِلُ النُّفُوسَ كَأَنَّمَا

بَيْنَ النُّفُوسِ وَبَيْنَهَا أَنْسَابُ

بَيْنَ النُّفُوسِ وَبَيْنَهَا أَنْسَابُ

And glad tidings reach the souls, as though

Between the souls and them were bonds of kinship.

تَأْتِي عَلَى قَدَرٍ فَيَخْلُفُ بَعْضُهَا

تَأْتِي عَلَى قَدَرٍ فَيَخْلُفُ بَعْضُهَا

بَعْضَاً كَمَا خَلَفَ السَّحَابَ سَحَابُ

بَعْضَاً كَمَا خَلَفَ السَّحَابَ سَحَابُ

They come in due measure, some succeeding

Others, as one cloud follows another.

أَمَّا الفُتُوحُ فَقَدْ تَجَلَّى وَاضِحٌ

أَمَّا الفُتُوحُ فَقَدْ تَجَلَّى وَاضِحٌ

مِنْ صُبْحِهَا الأجلى وفتح باب

مِنْ صُبْحِهَا الأجلى وفتح باب

As for the conquests, clarity has shone forth

From their brightest dawn, and a gate has opened.

وسوق بشائرها بكل تحية

وسوق بشائرها بكل تحية

شدق لها الأَقْتَادُ وَالأَقْتَابُ

شدق لها الأَقْتَادُ وَالأَقْتَابُ

And their glad tidings are conveyed with every greeting;

The saddle-frames and camel saddles are their mouth-corner [wording unclear].

حَتَّى إِذَا شَمَلَ البِلاَدَ وَأَهْلَهَا

حَتَّى إِذَا شَمَلَ البِلاَدَ وَأَهْلَهَا

فَعَلاَ لَهُمْ قِدْحٌ وَعَزَّ جَنَابُ

فَعَلاَ لَهُمْ قِدْحٌ وَعَزَّ جَنَابُ

Until, when it encompassed the land and its people,

Then their lot-arrow rose, and their domain grew mighty.

طَلَعَتْ عَلَى الأَعْقَابِ أَعْذَبَ مَوْقِعَاً

طَلَعَتْ عَلَى الأَعْقَابِ أَعْذَبَ مَوْقِعَاً

مِنْها وَلأْلاَءُ السُّيُوفِ عَذَابُ

مِنْها وَلأْلاَءُ السُّيُوفِ عَذَابُ

It rose close on their heels, sweeter in its effect

Than those, while the gleam of swords is torment.

فَارْتَاحَ دَوْحُ المُلْكِ عَنْ فَزْعِ الْعُلَى

فَارْتَاحَ دَوْحُ المُلْكِ عَنْ فَزْعِ الْعُلَى

وَازْدَادَ فِي أُفُقِ الجَلاَلِ شِهَابُ

وَازْدَادَ فِي أُفُقِ الجَلاَلِ شِهَابُ

So the great trees of kingship found relief from lofty glory's dread,

And majesty's horizon gained a shooting star.

وَاسْتَلَّ مِنْ أَجْفَانِ خَزْرَجَ صَارم

وَاسْتَلَّ مِنْ أَجْفَانِ خَزْرَجَ صَارم

خضعت إليه مفارق ورقاب

خضعت إليه مفارق ورقاب

And a keen blade drew free of Khazraj's scabbards;

Before him, crowns of heads and necks bowed.

وهدت إليه أسنّة وأسرّة

وهدت إليه أسنّة وأسرّة

وَمَوَاكِبٌ وَكَتَائِبٌ وَكِتَابُ

وَمَوَاكِبٌ وَكَتَائِبٌ وَكِتَابُ

And spearheads and thrones pointed the way to him,

And processions, battalions, and a book.

فَاسْعَدْ أَمِيرَ المُسْلِمِيْنَ بِطَالِعِ

فَاسْعَدْ أَمِيرَ المُسْلِمِيْنَ بِطَالِعِ

يُنْمَى إِلَيْهِ الحَرْبُ وَالْمِحْرَابُ

يُنْمَى إِلَيْهِ الحَرْبُ وَالْمِحْرَابُ

So rejoice, Commander of the Muslims, in a rising star

To whom warfare and the prayer niche are ascribed.

وَاشْدُدْ بهِ لأَخِيهِ أَزْرَاً وَارْتَقِبْ

وَاشْدُدْ بهِ لأَخِيهِ أَزْرَاً وَارْتَقِبْ

مِنْهُمْ أُسُوداً وَالأَسِنَّةُ غَابُ

مِنْهُمْ أُسُوداً وَالأَسِنَّةُ غَابُ

And through him strengthen his brother's back, and expect

Lions from them, with spearheads as a forest.

فَإِذَا تَسَعَّرَتِ الوَغَى وَتَنَكَّرَتْ

فَإِذَا تَسَعَّرَتِ الوَغَى وَتَنَكَّرَتْ

بُهْمُ الرِّجَالِ دَعَوْتَهُمْ فَأَجَابُوا

بُهْمُ الرِّجَالِ دَعَوْتَهُمْ فَأَجَابُوا

So when battle blazes, and grow fearsome

The champions among men, you summon them, and they answer.

وَرَمَيْتَهَا مِنْهُمْ بِكلِّ مُجَرِّبٍ

وَرَمَيْتَهَا مِنْهُمْ بِكلِّ مُجَرِّبٍ

ذَلَّتْ لَهُ الأَقْرَانُ وَهْيَ صِعَابُ

ذَلَّتْ لَهُ الأَقْرَانُ وَهْيَ صِعَابُ

And you hurl against it every seasoned warrior among them,

Before whom rivals bowed, though they were formidable.

هُنِّيْتَهَا نُعْمَى لَدَيْكَ جَليلَةً

هُنِّيْتَهَا نُعْمَى لَدَيْكَ جَليلَةً

لا يَسْتَقِلُّ بِشُكْرِهَا إِطْنَابُ

لا يَسْتَقِلُّ بِشُكْرِهَا إِطْنَابُ

May you be congratulated on it—a blessing great in your eyes;

No length of speech can suffice to express thanks for it.

لِلَّهِ مِنْكَ مُؤيَّدٌ ذُو عَزْمَةٍ

لِلَّهِ مِنْكَ مُؤيَّدٌ ذُو عَزْمَةٍ

رَاضٍ وَأَيَّامُ الزَّمَانِ غِضَابُ

رَاضٍ وَأَيَّامُ الزَّمَانِ غِضَابُ

God be praised for you, a man granted aid and firm in resolve,

Content while the days of time are angry.

مِنْ آلِ نَصْرٍ مِنْ ذُؤَابَةِ خَزْرَجٍ

مِنْ آلِ نَصْرٍ مِنْ ذُؤَابَةِ خَزْرَجٍ

قَوْمٌ هُمُ الأَنْصَارُ والأَصْحَابُ

قَوْمٌ هُمُ الأَنْصَارُ والأَصْحَابُ

From the House of Nasr, from Khazraj's crest—

A people who are the Ansar and the Companions.

آثَارُكَ الغُرُّ كَرام كوَاكب

آثَارُكَ الغُرُّ كَرام كوَاكب

تَأْبَى الكَواكِبُ أَنْ يَضِّلَّ رِكَابُ

تَأْبَى الكَواكِبُ أَنْ يَضِّلَّ رِكَابُ

Your radiant deeds are noble stars;

The stars refuse to let a caravan go astray.

فَإِذَا هَمَمْتَ بَلَغْتَ كُلَّ مُمَنَّعٍ

فَإِذَا هَمَمْتَ بَلَغْتَ كُلَّ مُمَنَّعٍ

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ الرَّأْيَ فَهْوَ صَوَابُ

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ الرَّأْيَ فَهْوَ صَوَابُ

So when you resolve, you reach all that is inaccessible.

And when you form a judgment, it is sound.

أَبْدَيْتَ مِنْ تَقْوى الإِلاَهِ سَرِيرَةً

أَبْدَيْتَ مِنْ تَقْوى الإِلاَهِ سَرِيرَةً

يُحْبَى مَقَامُكَ فَضْلَهَا وَيُثَابُ

يُحْبَى مَقَامُكَ فَضْلَهَا وَيُثَابُ

You have revealed an inward disposition of reverence for God;

Your station is granted its bounty and rewarded.

وَجَرَيْتَ فِي العَلْيَاءِ مُقْتَدِيَاً بِمَا

وَجَرَيْتَ فِي العَلْيَاءِ مُقْتَدِيَاً بِمَا

ذَخَرَتْ إِلَيْكَ أَرُومَةٌ وَنِصَابُ

ذَخَرَتْ إِلَيْكَ أَرُومَةٌ وَنِصَابُ

And you have raced through the heights, following the example of what

Your ancestral stock and lineage have stored up for you.

فَاْسْلَمْ وَمُلْكُكَ آمِنٌ مَا يَتَّقِي

فَاْسْلَمْ وَمُلْكُكَ آمِنٌ مَا يَتَّقِي

تُضْفَى عَلَيْهِ لِلْمُنَى أَثْوَابُ

تُضْفَى عَلَيْهِ لِلْمُنَى أَثْوَابُ

So live in safety, your kingdom secure and fearing nothing;

Robes of hopes are draped over it.
