صَدَعَhe cleft الظَّلاَمَthe darkness بِهَاwith it وَحَثَّand hastened كُؤُوسَهَاits cups
صِرْفاًunmixed بغَيْرِwithout بُلاَلَةٍa drop مِنْof مَاءِwater
He cleft the darkness with it and urged its cups along,
Unmixed, without a drop of water.
فَلَوَso if انَّهُمْthat they نَظَرُواlooked إلَىinto أَحْشَائِهِhis entrails
لَرَأَوْهُthey would surely have seen him مِثْلَlike حُبَاحِبِa firefly الظَّلْمَاءِthe darkness
So, had they looked into his entrails,
They would surely have seen him like a firefly in the darkness.
