نَزَلْنَاwe alighted حِلَّةَthe encampment of الْخُلْطِal-Khult الْكِرَامِthe noble
نَزَلْنَا حِلَّةَ الْخُلْطِ الْكِرَامِ
بِأُخْتِin the sister of الرُّكْنِthe Corner وَالْبَلَدِand the city الْحَرَامِsacred
بِأُخْتِ الرُّكْنِ وَالْبَلَدِ الْحَرَامِ
We alighted in the encampment of the noble al-Khult,
We descended in the raiment of noble pilgrim garb,
in the sister of the Corner and the Sacred City.
By the Sister of the Corner and the Sacred Abode,
وَمَنْand whoever يَكُis مِنْamong ضُيُوفِthe guests of أَبِيAbu (father of) كَثِيرٍKathir
وَمَنْ يَكُ مِنْ ضُيُوفِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ
غَنِيٍّhaving no need بِالْفِعَالِthrough deeds عَنِof الْكَلاَمِwords
غَنِيٍّ بِالْفِعَالِ عَنِ الْكَلاَمِ
And whoever is among Abu Kathir’s guests
And whoever is among the frequent guests of my father,
needs no words, for deeds suffice.
Is wealthy in deeds, without need for words,
وَإِنَّand indeed بُيُوتَهُhis tents لَكَمَاsurely just as سَمِعْنَاwe have heard
وَإِنَّ بُيُوتَهُ لَكَمَا سَمِعْنَا
بُيُوتَtents of الْخَيْلthe horses وَالنَّعَمِand the livestock الْجِسَامِlarge-bodied
بُيُوتَ الْخَيْل وَالنَّعَمِ الْجِسَامِ
And indeed his tents are just as we have heard:
Truly, his abodes are as we have heard:
tents of horses and large-bodied livestock.
The abodes of horses and sturdy beasts of burden,
تُظَلِّلُهَاshade them الْفَوَارِسُthe horsemen بِالْعَوَالِيwith long spears
تُظَلِّلُهَا الْفَوَارِسُ بِالْعَوَالِي
وَتَفْرِشُهَاand carpet them الْوَلاَئِدُthe maidservants بِالطَّعَامِwith food
وَتَفْرِشُهَا الْوَلاَئِدُ بِالطَّعَامِ
Horsemen shade them with long spears,
Shaded by horsemen with lofty banners,
and maidservants carpet them with food.
And spread with banquet cloths full of food.
